Yanks-Bosox, Take #1

OK, we've had our first official tasting of the annual Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. To our dismay, the Red Sox came out on top, 2-1. Hate it.

Chien-Ming Wang pitched an absolute gem on Friday with a complete game 2-hitter. That set the bar pretty high for the pitchers for the rest of the weekend. Unfortunately, our Yankees did not live up to it. Moose gave up 4 runs in 5.2 innings, along with that bad decision to pitch to Mann-Ram. And Phil Hughes looked absolutely lost last night, giving up 6 earned runs (+1 unearned!) in 2, count 'em, 2 innings of play. And could last night's game have crept along any more slowly? Daisuke Matsuzaka didn't look too sharp, either. If Yanks-Sox games are going to last 4+ hours, ESPN may want to rethink their start time of 8pm.

Did anybody else notice that ARod went 0-5 last night and 2-13 on the series with 0 RBI? Come on!

Are we entering into the era of "Clueless" Joe Girardi? That decision to pitch to Mann-Ram in the second game seemed foolish. Why not walk the bases loaded and let Moose pitch to Youkilis? I don't get it. Why put Posada behind the plate in the third game with his "dead arm"? The Red Sox ran all over him.

Jeter, Posada, come back! We need you!

For an indefinite period of time (determined only by when my disgust subsides) my team name will remain Hank Bushleague. The name honors the young "Boss" of the New York Yankees.

Hank is a Canal-Street-Imitation of George. Bucky Dent to continue the countdown of remaining games at the Stadium last night? Dent's presence before the first sox-yanks series at the Stadium was Bushleague, transparent, irrelevant, and historically innacurate. Better to have Reggie Jackson--check the '78 triumph of "David" again, Hank (and don't mind my revisionist history). Remove or don't remove the mythic jersey from the new Yankee Stadium; bring Aaron Boone for the final Sox-Yanks series in the Stadium; nobody remembers your 26 championships and the house will close a house in recession!

Hank failed to realize that only prideful and imprudent fans can revive the rivalry! But as the sox are now the better team, we have to acknowledge the yankee suffering for the rivalry to renew--we can't acknowledge their equality. Start whinning, Hank; or perhaps that was the point of bringing the little guy out!

Wow! Them's fightin' words! How many beers did you have before you wrote this?

Maybe you're watching too much NESN -- those announcers are unbearable and the only thing that kept us from enjoying last night's Yankee victory over the Sox. Well, let's just admit it -- that whole game was brutal. Pitching on both sides sucked, again. Girardi left Wang in too long. At least our Yankee bats are starting to warm up!

And that jersey was no myth! They did indeed jackhammer it out of the fresh concrete.

One question, what the hell does "Canal-Street-Hank" mean? As opposed to Wall St.? Broadway? 161st & River? Or is that just part of your otherwise absolutely fantastic rant?

On Canal Street they sell counterfeit goods, knock-off everything!

I actually had no drinks at all; I just felt like getting a little chatter started on the fantasy webpage! Perhaps you (Rosie) and the Drake can raise the issue on the sports-talk show?!

If the Yankees ever let Mussina pitch to Ramirez again, they're crazy. Gotta say I'm worried about Moose. He still can locate well enough, but there's just nothing on his pitches. Aside from the injury woes, it seems he's in the same boat as Pedro.

But yeah, nice rant Mike. Hank's got a real jackass streak so I really can't offer much in reponse, other than that JACKFRUIT has picked up like 15 POINTS in 2 DAYS! We're back baby! (Though I'm not quite sure how.)
