Rosie's Picks:

Best Actor: Daniel-Day Lewis
Best Actress: Cate Blanchett
Best Supporting Actor: Javier Bardem
Best Supporting Actress: Cate Blanchett
Best Director: Coen Brothers
Best Picture: No Country for Old Men
Best Animated Picture: Persepolis
Cinematography: Atonement
Screenplay, Adapted: No Country For Old Men
Screenplay, Original: Michael Clayton

I figure Cate Blanchett has to win at least one of those awards (more likely for Best Supp). I'd say that it's D-D Lewis' "turn", same with Javier Bardem. They also both just won the BAFTA - British Oscars. Atonement was snubbed by BAFTA - could happen again!

Will Michael Moore win for "Sicko", or are people sick of HIM?

I added "Atonement" for Cinematography - very interesting plays with light (you can see the sunlight shining through James McAvoy's ice-blue eyes - how cool is that?). There's also a great beach scene, reminiscent of "Apocalypse Now" ("Soldier, who's in charge around here?" "Ain't you?")

And I'm quickly losing patience with all these movies involving landscapes & violins (violence?)!

Tilda Swinton...

Okay, I stated on the show that Tilda Swinton reminded me of a witch for some reason. I was right! She played the White Witch in "The Chronicles of Narnia: LW&W" and will reprise that role in "Prince Caspian" (although the WW is not in the novel). She also played the Angel Gabriel in "Constantine" -- ethereal and witchy all at once!

I get the impression from the previews of "Michael Clayton" that she has not strayed too far from her witchy persona in this movie either!
